Digital Microscope Cameras
Microscope cameras from Micropix utilise the latest in sensor technology and combined with our own, in-house software – Cytocam – they offer exceptional imaging performance with easy-to-use and intuitive software.
Our new range of “Peak” cameras use state-of-the-art, Sony digital sensors that offer improved dynamic range, quantum efficiency, saturation capacity, signal to noise ratio and reduced temporal dark noise (see below for definitions and explanations of these terms).
We have a camera to suit nearly all applications and budgets – more information can be found below and please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or need some advice.
Imaging made easy
Our new PEAK cameras come in 2 megapixel, 3MP, 8MP, 12MP and 20MP versions, use a USB3 output, are run via a PC (sadly, not Mac compatible) and use our own, in-house Cytocam software.
Our VidCAM HD, VidCAM 4K and PadCAM 4K cameras are all standalone systems that use an HDMI output – no PC required. Great for live image display (e.g. in MDM / MDT meeting rooms), but with the added ability to save images and video onto an SD card.

- Available in 2 megapixel (for fluorescence), 3 megapixel, 8 megapixel, 12 megapixel and 20 megapixel versions.
- Fast frame rates for smooth live image display e.g. during Teams meetings, remote MDM / MDTs etc.
- The USB3 output works with any PC.
- Simple, high quality and cost-effective.
- Will fit any microscope.
PEAK-2 (mono) - 2 megapixel (1600x1200, 4:3 aspect ratio), 1" Sony IMX249 CMOS sensor with 5.86µm² pixels. Runs at 40 frames per second (fps). £2,450 (excluding VAT). For fluorescence imaging. Includes our "Fluorescence Module" for Cytocam so you can add pseudo colour to multichannel fluorescence images and create composite images.
PEAK-3 (colour) - 3 megapixel (2048x1536, 4:3 aspect ratio), 1/2" Sony IMX265 CMOS sensor with 3.45µm² pixels. Runs at 30 frames per second (fps). £2,150 (excluding VAT). Our most popular camera - provides the best balance of price to performance.
PEAK-8 (colour) - 8 megapixel (2848x2848, 1:1 aspect ratio), 2/3" Sony IMX546 CMOS sensor with 2.74µm² pixels. Runs at 25 frames per second (fps). £2,950 (excluding VAT). Our favourite camera - superb at all magnifictions, fast live image, high resolution and best field of view (the square sensor fits better with circular microscope optics compared to a rectangular sensor).
PEAK-12 (colour) - 12 megapixel (4128x3008, 4:3 aspect ratio), 1" Sony IMX545 CMOS sensor with 2.74µm² pixels. Runs at 19 frames per second (fps). £4,3000 (excluding VAT). Best for demanding, low magnification (1x, 2x, 4x) images / stereo microscopes.
PEAK-20 (colour) - 20 megapixel (4512x4512, 1:1 aspect ratio), 1" Sony IMX541 CMOS sensor with 2.74µm² pixels. Runs at 15 frames per second (fps). £5,750 (excluding VAT). Only useful for the most demanding of low magnification applications / poster-size printing.
